Protect Taxpayer Dollars
During a slowing economy, we need leaders who can make smart choices with our tax dollars. As people tighten their belts, less money will be coming in through taxes. In tough times, more people will need to take advantage of our social services, further straining the county budget.
Every budget has its fat. We need to elect commissioners who can look at a $300 million budget and find those areas that need trimming. As your County Commissioner, I will vote against any tax rate increases. Families are contending with rising gas, food, and utility costs. Cutting taxes will allow families to better care for their personal needs.
There is no room in this economy for wasteful government spending. During difficult times, the government will be confronted with financial demands from many different groups. It is imperative that our leaders have proven experience balancing the many needs of the community while demonstrating fiscal restraint. As a successful business owner for 25 years and a former member of the Board of Education, I know how to cut expenses, balance a budget, and meet payroll for hundreds of people. I know how challenging this can be, but I also know that it can be done.
